The TornadoVideos.net team includes storm chasers Reed Timmer, Chris Chittick and Joel Taylor. We have been featured on Discovery Channel's Storm Chasers series since the 2008 season, and have been chasing since 1997. For years our primary goal was to videotape violent tornadoes from extreme close range--hopefully from within a few hundred yards--but we have recently begun to focus more on extreme weather science. We drive our radar-equipped tornado-proof vehicle known as The Dominator as close as possible to tornadic circulations - sometimes right into the core of the tornado. The Dominator is also outfitted with a custom air cannon array which shoots meteorological probes into tornadoes; the probes can then be tracked in real time, much like in the movie Twister!
